The Teacher by Freida McFadden

The Teacher follows the story of Claire, a middle school teacher with a seemingly perfect life. But as she navigates her personal and professional worlds, cracks begin to show. Unsettling events at school reveal that her past might not be as buried as she thought. With a mysterious stranger entering the picture and secrets coming to light, Claire’s life spirals into a tension-filled maze of lies, danger and shocking revelations.

This book hooked me from the start with its relatable protagonist and eerie, atmospheric setting. McFadden does a fantastic job of blending everyday experiences with sinister undertones, making the suspense feel both grounded and thrilling. The twists in The Teacher genuinely caught me off guard. The pacing was so tight I couldn’t stop turning the pages.

If you love a thriller that explores personal secrets and their devastating ripple effects, The Teacher will keep you guessing until the very end.

Never Lie by Freida McFadden

Never Lie introduces us to Tricia and Ethan. They’re a newlywed couple searching for their dream home. When a snowstorm forces them to take shelter in a mysterious, abandoned mansion, they stumble upon an unsettling discovery. A hidden recording of therapy sessions that reveal disturbing secrets. As the tapes unravel more about the mansion’s past, the couple realizes they might not be alone.

What I loved most about this book was its claustrophobic atmosphere. McFadden creates a palpable sense of dread that builds with every chapter. The dynamic between Tricia and Ethan adds layers of tension and complexity. The story moves at a breakneck pace. Just when I thought I had figured it out, McFadden threw in another twist that completely floored me.

Never Lie is perfect for fans of locked-room mysteries with a psychological edge. It’s suspenseful, unpredictable and impossible to put down.

The Coworker by Freida McFadden

The Coworker takes us into the cutthroat world of corporate life, where tensions simmer beneath the surface of every interaction. The story revolves around two coworkers. Dawn is the quirky and socially awkward office outcast. Natalie is the popular, ambitious professional who seems to have it all. When Dawn doesn’t show up to work one day, the office buzzes with speculation. Especially when unsettling details about Natalie and Dawn’s relationship come to light.

This book is a masterclass in psychological tension. McFadden skillfully unravels the characters’ backstories while keeping you on the edge of your seat. Making you wonder “who should you trust?” The dual perspectives add depth, offering a unique look at how both women perceive their workplace dynamics and each other. The final twists were jaw-dropping, tying the story together in a way I didn’t expect.
